  1. If you cry while it's raining, your tears combine with raindrops on your cheeks.

  2. If you cry while it's sunny, the light refracts through your tears, filling your vision with starbursts.

  3. If you cry as you fall asleep, tears leak out from beneath your closed eyelids.

  4. If you cry while you're sleeping, you wake up trying to catch up to emotions already in progress, like walking into a darkened theater after the movie has already started.

  5. If you cry in front of strangers, they may pretend not to notice or you may be met with unexpected tenderness.

  6. If you cry in front of your children, you may want them to see you or you may want to hide.

  7. If you cry in front of your spouse, you may feel held, or you may feel lonely.

  8. If you cry in front of your mother, you may feel like a little kid again. This may feel good or bad.

  9. If you cry while you're alone in your bedroom, you may wonder how many tears could possibly be left.
